When running your own software business it is important that your website don’t go down, everything runs over your website. I current use a Hetzner dedicated server, and was unsure about the network availability after reading some blog posts.

Here comes SiteUptime into the game, which give you a free and simple way to monitor your website. And a short time this night my site wasn’t available, so I will try to check this with Hetzner and keep a eye on it.

A short update to OMiC, the last beta version in running very well on Leopard, the problem is still supporting Mac OS X 10.3 Panther.

I am using Leopard and would like to use OMiC with Mail I’ve tried to intall it, and get a message telling me I already have a newer version installed on my computer. I’ve searched and don’t find anything. Is this because of Leopard instead of Tiger as my OS?

So far the Beta has been working really well! I’m a recent switcher and to be honest I didn’t understand the value of your software until I uninstalled it. I know you describe it’s functionality quite clearly, but I just assumed that Apple must have some way to deal with receiving certain Outlook attachments. In an effort to slim down my system and rid it of unnecessary apps, I uninstalled OMiC and ran a few tests looking at different emails I’d received from Outlook users. I see exactly the behavior described with stray .DAT files. To be honest, the functionality your software offers, I’d taken for granted!! Now if only you could figure a way to get it to adjust outgoing mail so that it doesn’t create fragment files attached to e-mails sent to Windows users!! It seems anytime I send a file, like an image attachment, it also puts a random empty TXT file along with it! This happens regardless of how I format my messages, plain text or rich text. When I was a Windows user I use to hate getting those empty TXT attachments from Mac users and vowed to figure out a way to avoid it if I ever made the switch. Maybe you can provide a solution???

@Ergolad I never hear or see that Apple Mail add an empty txt attachments. I googled a little bit about it, but didn’t find anything special, but maybe this article helps?

I’m a recent switcher to mac. So far I became really frustrated with the winmail.dat files. Like a previous comment I feel strongly that the functionality should be a standard in mail. Sell it to Apple .. :)

Well done! It’s an excellent application which makes using the Mac possible in a business enviroment with many Microsoft exchange clients
